The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal and Uterine Massage

What is Maya Abdominal & Uterine Massage?

Maya Abdominal and Uterine Massage is a non-invasive technique that guides the uterus and abdominal organs back into their proper position. Displaced organs can restrict the flow of blood, lymph, nerves, and energy (qi), causing physical and emotional congestion within the abdomen and pelvis. The massage helps to restore the body back to its natural state of balance by relieving congestion and energy blockages in the abdomen and pelvis. This prevents the progression of chronic symptoms.

The Maya believe that a woman's uterus is the spiritual center of her being. For centuries, the Maya of Central America treated common female ailments using this massage, realignment techniques, herbal remedies, and prayer. Dr. Rosita Arvigo has lived in Central America for over 30 years. She learned and developed this technique after apprenticing with Don Elijio Panti, a renowned Maya Healer in Central America.

What can I expect in a treatment?

The treatment involves a detailed health questionnaire and in-depth office consultation. The massage is a slow, deep, external massage focused on the abdomen, pelvis, and back. Self-care techniques will also be taught to enhance the benefit of the treatment. Follow-up care depends on the individual case.

What are the causes of a displaced uterus?

A woman's uterus may become displaced due to: constipation, standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time, carrying or lifting heavy objects, high impact sports, injury to the low back or tailbone, wearing high heel shoes, childbirth, and emotional tension.

What are the symptoms of a displaced uterus?

The most common symptoms associated with a displaced uterus are: painful periods, irregular periods, amenorrhea, heavy periods, prolapsed uterus, painful intercourse, headaches around your period, anxiety/depression/insomnia, low back pain, incontinence, recurrent bladder or yeast infections, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, fertility concerns, and digestive concerns.

What are the contra-indications to the massage?

The massage is not recommended 5 days before or during your period, if you have an IUD inserted, immediately after pelvic or abdominal surgery, or if you have an acute infection.

What if I have had a hysterectomy?

This massage can help women who have had partial or complete hysterectomies. Scar tissue that forms as a result of a surgery or invasive treatment to the pelvic and abdominal area (including Caesarian delivery), can prevent the flow of energy and blood into the pelvis and restrict proper drainage away from the pelvis. This can result in a constant feeling of heaviness in the area, hemorrhoids, or varicose veins. The scar tissue that forms is greatly reduced by doing the massage.

The uterus is the woman's center. If her uterus is not in proper position and good health, nothing in her life will be right. She will be as out of balance as her uterus.
