Social Activism
The ultimate measure
of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and
convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and
controversy.
- Martin
Luther King Jr.
Human rights… women’s rights… global justice.
These are common words in today’s world. The stories I hear
from local communities and the global community reminds me of how
lucky we are to live in Canada. I recall someone saying to me around
the election in January, 2006, how, as much as we complain about
politicians, we, men & women, are free to talk about politics
in public, free to vote, free to voice our concerns. As a
society, we have the ability and resources to do so much. We
just have to listen to the stories of others, from this country and
other countries, to be grateful for the simple things we take for
granted, turning on the tap for clean water, being able to cover
ourselves with a blanket on a cold nights, even education. We
can either be divided by our differences...or unite and come
together...look at our commonalities, and work together for change.
In London, I am a strong supporter of women’s
rights and their power. Please see the links below for more information.
